London loves to host many events and celebrate many holidays, including the traditional American Thanksgiving. This holiday is celebrated every 4th Thursday of November. This year, Thanksgiving falls on November 22. The city does not officially celebrate it as a UK holiday but Londoners love to celebrate it with their expat friends. Tourists can join in, too. The city has many places to celebrate this American holiday, with some London flair.

The celebration starts at the St. Paul’s Cathedral with a morning Thanksgiving service. Everyone who wants to celebrate the holiday with mass is welcome. The rest of the day can be spent in any way – just make sure to be home for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Traditional Dinner

There are many places in the city to get delicious food for a traditional Thanksgiving feast. Some restaurants do offer Thanksgiving menu such as Christopher’s at the Covent Garden. The Thanksgiving menu is a three-course meal with many options.

One can choose the traditional turkey-and-pumpkin pie set or the slow-roasted organic turkey ballotine with cornbread and some hazelnut & Michigan cherry stuffing, buttered beans, cranberry relish and creamed potatoes. Modern twists include caramelized Orkney scallops served with maple-roasted parsnip cream. Dessert menu is also quite delectable, from traditional pumpkin pie and honey bourbon crème Chantilly to the indulgent peanut butter chocolate tart served with a scoop of espresso ice cream.

Another restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving while a resident at any of the hotels in North West London is The Jones Family Project in Shoreditch. They will be hosting a feast, as they do every year, but with a special British twist. They have a three-course meal with cocktails and pairings. Meal kicks off with Bad Apples cocktail followed by Cream of Squash soup with truffles. The main is classic roasted turkey breast steak. Choices for sides include traditional and less conventional fare like sage stuffing, green beans and cornbread.

Another spot is Wolfgang Puck’s CUT at 45 Park Lane. This world-renowned chef has prepared a Thanksgiving three-course dinner with some unique twists. Meal starts with Prime Beef Carpaccio with black truffle. Main is a choice of classic roasted Thanksgiving turkey complete with trimmings or opt for a twist with the grilled jumbo prawns in toasted chili oil. The meal can be upgraded with the restaurant’s signature Wagyu Kagoshima Beef Cut by adding £110. The meal is rounded up with classic dessert like pumpkin and ginger cheesecake or classic American pecan pie.

If dinner at home is preferred, order a complete feast from Bea’s at Bloomsbury. The restaurant is known for its buttery scones and delicious cakes but they have a special Thanksgiving offer. It’s a full roast turkey dinner with dessert. Order by phone or online ahead and have it delivered in time for dinner.

Turkey feast

London restaurants offer great roasted turkey that can be served on a Thanksgiving table. One place to get mouthwatering turkey is the Big Easy. The restaurant also offers a set menu that comes with the requisite pumpkin pie.
