Tips to Keep in Mind When Traveling to London in Winter

Image result for london in winter

Many people hesitate to visit London in winter because they are afraid of the cold and inclement weather. But they should reconsider since the city is at its most beautiful in the winter months. Flights are cheaper, and the accommodations like a stay at Best Western Palm Hotel London are more affordable. This way, you can experience the city while spending less money.

Here are some tips to keep in mind if you are planning to travel to London during the winter:

Being familiar with layering will help you pack lighter. – Layering is a technique in which you wear multiple layers of thinner clothes to keep warm, rather than one or two bulkier garments. When you layer, you wear three layers: the base layer that is worn against the skin and helps keep you dry and warm by wicking sweat away from your skin; the mid-layer which is basically your normal street clothes; and an outer layer, which is a jacket or coat that protects you against the elements. And, don’t forget waterproof boots or shoes to keep your feet dry.

Take advantage of the sales. – Winter is a great time to go shopping in London. The high street shops usually start their sales on Boxing Day (26 December) and end in mid-January. In the last few days of the sales, you can enjoy even more price cuts. To get the best bargains, make sure to be there early and plan in advance, since public transport is limited on 1 January and 26 December.

Use vacuum bags to compress your bulky clothing. – These vacuum bags will save you space in your luggage so that you have more room to take home the new clothes you’re sure to buy. If you are staying in a hotel, they will have vacuum cleaners that you can borrow to compress the bags. Just make sure that you store the bags in a flat place away from sharp objects that might puncture the bag and ruin it.

If you’re flying a budget airline, take the earliest flight. – Booking your flight to London with a budget airline is very tempting, due to the very low fares that they charge. But you should also be aware that these flights are prone to cancellation due to quick turnaround times. You can reduce the risk of cancellations by choosing the earliest flight. Even if your flight is cancelled, the odds are higher that you will be placed on a later flight.

Take advantage of Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland. – The Winter Wonderland is one of the most popular things to do in London during the cold months. Admission is free and there are Christmas markets, fairground rides and even circuses. And don’t forget the ice rink, which is the UK’s largest outdoor rink.

Stay for the New Year. – New Year celebrations in London are among the most spectacular in the world. So, you can book a hotel near Wembley Stadium and on New Year’s Eve, you can watch public fireworks displays; the best ones are those near the Tower Bridge and London Eye. Then, on New Year’s Day, you can watch the parade, which starts at noon and ends at three. The 2019 edition has some 10,000 participants scheduled from all over Europe and the world.

Top Practical Tips for Planning a Wedding

flower-3092423_1280

You have many options when it comes to wedding venues in North London. If you need some sound advice for planning your wedding, take note of the following tips that wedding gurus in the United Kingdom offer:

  • Wedding Dress

If you want to find your dream wedding dress, you should first try on party dresses. This will help you determine what parts of your body you want to highlight and which ones you want to downplay. It allows you to try on different fabrics to find out which ones you find most attractive and comfortable. This will give you the confidence to determine what you really like in a dress and help you design or find the bridal gown that is perfect for you.

  • Wedding Shoes

Do not wait for your wedding day to try on your wedding shoes. Make sure to break them in before your big day. Doing so will help ensure that the shoes are comfortable. It will help you circumvent getting blisters. If you want to make sure that the shoes remain beautifully pristine, you can break them in inside the house.

  • Dieting

Every bride wants to look amazing on her wedding day. Make sure that you do not go overboard on your pre-wedding diet and exercise program.

Do not starve yourself. Do not exercise to the point of exhaustion. If you diet and exercise beyond what is normal, you will be too starved or tired to enjoy yourself at your wedding.

  • Gift List

Plan your gift list. Look over home décor and interior design magazines and determine what looks and styles are right for you. You can then design your gift list around the things that will help you make your dream home happen.

  • Honeymoon

When you set your budget for your wedding, do not forget to include the expenses for your honeymoon. If you have a limited budget but want to have a dream holiday, you can build a honeymoon holiday list instead of the usual gift list. Guests can help by contributing towards payments for flights and accommodations.

  • Weather

Do not overlook the weather. For example, you can request your ushers to bring old towels with them. When the guests are seated at the church, your ushers can use the towels to mop up the church aisle to ensure that you keep your wedding gown dry, pristine, and beautiful when you walk down the aisle.

Make sure that you have a couple of umbrellas with you in your bridal car in the event that it rains on your way to and from the church.

  • Venue

Make sure that the venue you choose provides sufficient space to accommodate your guests, as well as the other elements you want to include. If you want a DJ or a live band, factor in the additional space that this will require.

Your wedding in any of the hotels in North West London is likely to be a successful celebration when you spend time to plan out the details.
